People will watch a blurry stream with clear sound for hours, and click away from a crisp one that hisses within seconds.
A mid-range microphone in a soft, furnished room beats an expensive one in a bare box. Curtains, rugs, and anything that breaks up a flat wall do more for your sound than the next upgrade.
Halving the distance to the mic does more than any setting in your software. Most thin, echoey streams are simply a microphone sitting too far away.
Clipping cannot be fixed afterwards. Speak at your loudest normal volume, set the peak below the red, and leave it alone rather than adjusting mid-stream.
Your voice should sit clearly above everything else. Checking a recording on phone speakers, not headphones, is the fastest way to hear what most viewers actually get.
