Your first sponsorship: what to accept and what to charge

The first offer usually arrives by email, is worth less than it looks, and asks for more than it should.

Pricing starts from average viewers, not followers

Follower counts are a vanity number that sponsors discount heavily. Average concurrent viewers and typical VOD views are what a serious buyer asks for, so know both before a conversation starts.

Read the exclusivity clause

A modest fee attached to category exclusivity for a year can cost far more than it pays by blocking every competing offer. Narrow the category and shorten the window.

Beware perpetual rights

Sponsors often ask to reuse your footage forever, anywhere. Limiting reuse by time and platform is normal and rarely refused if you ask.

Turn down what you would not use

An audience that trusts you is the asset being sold. Promoting something you would not touch spends that asset for one payment.
